The idea was to take the scenic route for 30 minutes and end at a park near home, switch the workout and use the metal step-up platforms for box jumps.
I was all over the place for this workout on Tuesday. It took me 10 extra minutes to get to the park and my body felt tight. I was winded early and struggled with the box jumps.
However, today was much better. The run felt great and ended perfectly at the workout start point on the 30-minute mark. I took about 1 minute shedding some gear, then started with the scheduled exercises.
The exercises were great and they’ve got me thinking about adding more jump rope and buying a plyometric box. I finished in about 20 minutes then jogged the last 10 minutes home. After the exercises and then back into a jog, I just love that heavy jelly feeling in the legs.
The spot for this workout is perfect though. It’s on an elevated position next to the river, looking west at the mountains for the sunset. It was dark today and all I could hear were the sounds of cars on the distant highway. The weather was pleasantly cool and lights reflected like diamonds on the river water. The only park visitor was a dog chasing his owner on a scooter.
